LIN Yung-Hsiang (林詠翔) is a former head coach of the Chinese Taipei national roller speed skating team. He was honored as a merit coach for the 2018 Asian Games.
Why an English version: LIN regularly appears at international competitions, and at the 2025 Asian Championships a Korean broadcaster introduced him as a "Taiwanese coach." I made this English version so that people outside Taiwan can read the public records for themselves.
Every fact below comes from a court ruling, a government document, or a public post. The sources are listed at the end.
What the investigations found
In the summers of 1997 or 1998, LIN was a volunteer inline skating coach at an elementary school in Pingtung County, Taiwan. A girl under 14 came to the school for a training camp.
The school's Gender Equity Education Committee investigated twice. Both investigations found the allegation substantiated. The second report found that he touched her chest and genitals, conduct that was a crime under Article 228 of the Criminal Code in force at the time.

The victim is TU WEN HSIN (杜彣欣). She chose to be named here.
What happened to him
- November 27, 2023. The Chinese Taipei Roller Sports Federation revoked his A-level coaching license after its disciplinary committee found the allegation substantiated. He may not be listed as a coach at any Federation event. Under Article 4(6) of Taiwan's coaching license regulations, a person found to have committed sexual assault may never apply for a coaching license again.
- March 26, 2024. Taiwan's Ministry of Education revoked his 2018 Asian Games merit coach status and ordered him to return the National Glory Medal, the certificate, and NT$2 million in prize money.
- August 28, 2025. Pingtung County Government rejected his administrative appeal. He had argued that the investigation applied laws retroactively. The county wrote that he had misunderstood: the finding relied on the criminal law in force in 1997 and 1998, and no penalty was imposed under the later gender equity law.
- October 8, 2025. He sued TU WEN HSIN for NT$600,000, claiming her account damaged his reputation. Pingtung District Court dismissed the suit. The ruling noted that he "only generally claimed he did not do these things" and did not explain why the investigation findings should be rejected. He did not appeal. The ruling is final.

He was never convicted of a crime. The criminal statute of limitations had already run out by the time she could speak about it. In 2026 she joined a petition to Taiwan's Constitutional Court challenging the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse.

His lawsuits against the Ministry of Education and the Federation are still pending.
He is still around children
After his license was revoked:
- 2024 and 2025. He was seen at the World Roller Speed Skating Championships (2024) and the Asian Roller Skating Championships (2025), near Chinese Taipei team athletes.
- December 2025. A private skating club in Pingtung thanked him publicly as its "head coach", with 124 children enrolled that year.
- November 2025 and March 2026. At two competitions hosted by Pingtung County Government, the official program listed him as chair of the speed skating jury. The March 2026 event was for elementary and junior high school students.
- 2026. At Taiwan's National Games, Taoyuan City Government confirmed in an official letter that he was not registered as a coach or staff member, but "wore another person's credential and entered the competition area."

Regulations stop him from being listed as a coach. They do not stop a private club from hiring him, and they do not stop anyone from inviting him.
If you work with young athletes
Before you let any coach, official, or volunteer near children, check the records. A missing name on one list does not mean a clean record. LIN does not appear on Taiwan's Ministry of Sports list of coaches with criminal convictions, because he was never convicted. He does appear on Taichung City's list of coaches whose licenses were revoked for life.
